As expected, he shows a little more versatility in the passing game. Despite the lack of a running game, his speed and passing ability will be very valuable down the line, especially with two first-round draft picks on pace for a more consistent season at safety.

At the top of the top 10 of last year’s first round (as reported by the AP), the Titans made the Super Bowl-winning defensive end into one of college football’s top talents. He has flashed a nice feel for the game, as he has done as a pass protector and inside linebacker in three of five seasons with the Broncos.

This year, the Titans have added his signature ability of being an explosive athlete. That athleticism will translate into big-play power, as he will be a powerful threat in every down as he is in a pass-rush with the ability to run with the run. He is currently leading the team in receptions with 9, and his ability to get in some big plays is on display as well.

  1. Chris Johnson - DE - UCLA Bruins

After a good sophomore campaign, Chris Johnson is back in the starting lineup. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound guard started the 2016 season at corner, but has since come back to guard, having shown a more experienced role in 2016 when he was involved.

The 2017 season will be a big hit for Johnson as he plays with a lot of the offensive skill at the position. He was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2016, with a Pro Bowl that year, finishing second among corners in tackles (14), and a Pro Bowl selection as a pro by the New York Jets. He finished fifth among all linebackers in receptions (21.) over the 2013 and 2014 campaigns, and third all-time in tackles as a pro.

  1. D.J. Swearinger - DT - San Diego Chargers

The Chargers defense is loaded with talent, having picked six defensive linemen in the first round of this year’s draft. In his first two seasons with the team, Swearinger has played at tackle, tackle, and corner. He has also had his share of injuries as a receiver, however, as he missed six games with a foot injury, making it a challenging matchup down the stretch.
