The Saffron plant isn’t the first to see significant investment.

In July 2008, a massive 12 billion investment by the U.S. Air Force was brought to bear on the construction of the plant. The project received a huge boost when a consortium from the Department of Defense received 12 billion.

In 2014, Lockheed Martin (NASDAQLMT.LMT) invested 1 billion in Saffron.
