(CNN) A federal judge on Saturday said Republicans must pay more attention to their budget when deciding who gets the sequester imposed by President Donald Trump.

The White House announced its plan Wednesday to cut the budget in the weeks ahead, including spending cuts and eliminating federal infrastructure programs for the federal workforce, which it said could cause further spending cuts.

Congress should be paying attention to all parts of the budget before making any decisions on additional money that doesn’t increase the budget, Trump said.

The order came as two groups representing the GOP veterans advocates and civil libertarians said the Republican plan will increase spending by 3.6 trillion. Republicans have also argued that the budget must be balanced for years without an end in sight, something a GOP source said was true even as Trump promised a big fiscal overhaul.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday. The administration on Saturday also is expected to begin talks with House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Trump has argued that the GOP should focus on a more complex plan for dealing with the deficit on the GOP tax platform.

The White House also said Republicans had no choice but to pass the measure because it was the most important piece of legislation Trump is planning in the Trump presidency. A White House official said the White House would have a chance to approve the tax plan by Tuesday of next week.

Trump wants a comprehensive deficit reduction package. The government would have to cut taxes for businesses and cut spending for the U.S. military, but he also wants to cut taxes on corporations over a certain amount and to create a new skinny budget that would include big cuts in programs like Medicare and Social Security.
