According to multiple sources and documents published by CNNMoney.com, the FBI continued its search in March 2013 after two days of interviews with residents and agents from both agencies. An interview with U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel in Mexico City and a search of any criminal activity was also followed up as part of the March search.

The following August, two FBI workers arrested at the headquarters of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Francisco had been on a separate federal search of Facebook and Twitter accounts. A day after the agents started their search, a second FBI agent who was also a Customs and Border Protection investigator came to collect information from several U.S. cities and visited a Facebook page run by one of the former members of the National Association of Chiefs of Police.
