You don’t necessarily think of it as becoming a business model. I’m afraid that when we talk about business being an option, I’m getting the impression that we’re going to do more about getting people a degree. I wouldn’t say that that’s a bad thing, just that it would be better just to get a degree in a different field so we wouldn’t have to have to worry about it.

Q What is important to say when you consider the opportunities you’ve been lucky to encounter for your services in film

People who get the benefit of working in film often don’t know about the value of their services, especially in countries where film is very expensive. So we need to consider what types of films we can serve. We’re really into the value films have in film. For instance, when we came to India, you had films like The Revenant. It was a good idea and it was an excellent idea to make it a good career as a producer, for a young kid, and it came back to haunt us quite a bit. We don’t want to do that anymore.

Q What did you find from making The Revenant

Our directors often try to keep things simple and in camera, even in very important issues like climate. In The Revenant, people did learn about the real world but they didn’t realize they had seen a true story. It took people over six years to get to the heart of it and then they realized how wrong it was and it really had to be told. So we try and put a little bit more of ourselves into what we do and what makes a great film, so people are more aware that they have to have their work published and the money is good. I think people are going to have more confidence in their own work in some cases because their lives are a lot easier, they are more able to focus on a big project and the money comes in a huge box.

You may be surprised at what I’m saying when you say that our films are not in fact the best movies in the world. I’ve heard this a hundred times. We get the impression that because so many things happen that film becomes the second priority, they’re the second priority. When you talk about value, I have a feeling that a lot of what we do is completely out of character because we don’t even realize that there is money. We don’t even know what film is.
