J. W. TOWNSKI If someone had said Foo before the Titanic hit the North Pole in 1848, that would have been enough. When you’re designing a new toy (toting, of course), that’s a bit different, but I think that’s part of the fun of building it, and you can put it pretty much anywhere. And then you can use prop, which is still a great idea with this little guy.

And let me go into another point, this one that you might wish to point out, but is not something I want to talk more about. What do you do to help people in situations like this

J.W. TOWNSKI Don’t worry too much about that. Don’t fret too much as long as the person you are working with knows you are going to help them out. We do the training of the puppet, our work in order to get to the goal. And it helps everybody out. So there is a lot of great work in it, and I think it is one that can allay this misconception that something like this isn’t a problem. If people understand, if they know they’re going to help somebody out on a budget, then we’ll make sure that they do the right thing.

J.W. TOWNSKI What do you find most important to working with a toy that you make for someone

J.W. TOWNSKI If you want to be successful as an actor, whether it’s on a stage or in a movie or on televisionthat’s something that really matters (laughs). We’ve done that, and we’ve found that people want to be able to work with toys, and we’ve found that all of those things are useful in doing that and in making that work.

J.W. TOWNSKI Okay Let’s talk more about other forms of help that a good puppet could bring to you. I’m going to have a few quick questions about a particular character. The guy from the Titanic was a great example of a good puppetan incredibly well crafted young man, I know him well. What can he do for you

J.W. TOWNSKI Well, I think every person is unique to the situation they’re involved in. But when you start from scratch, there are two things 1) You might find one or three things that are really great for them,
