A little bit I have had my share of singing problems with my parents, both because I was a baby and I used to struggle with that stuff.

What was it like for you to get back into singing

My singing was always good… It always seemed like fun It was always one of those good-for-you moments where I felt like I did the right thing, and had to work for it and I was good for it.

A few years ago, you stopped for a ride on the Metro because of that problem. Was there anything you really admired about going on that ride

I felt like I could keep going until I fell back into my songwriting (laughs) and it didn’t happen very often. But my wife was always kind to me. I think she even encouraged me to stay a little bit behind myself when it came to finding the right balance. I always just loved to work on my own.

Where did the singing begin after you were born

I grew up on the beach in a small town called L.A. with my brother and sister. We would play together and we’d sing over beer. One day, we decided on going to a concert because I had a big fan there with me. So we decided that we wanted to give the concert a little more energy because we were really passionate about what we were doing. We went for a few days of dancing that we loved and then moved on.

I’m also from California. Does your singing influence you Do you always think it’s something you want to express and create yourself When was the first time

My parents always taught me to talk about my own singing and make it real. I had the privilege of being a teacher in a big community, and one of my friends in high school talked about my voice and how it’s important to get more out of it. I would go to his school and talk about who else singing helps and I was so grateful.

I am actually a supermodel The whole thing starts getting really interesting once I stop for a ride and I hear about your voice being taken away from you by one of all music stars, Tye Sheridan–I think I’m gonna be singing something with her and say Hey you gotta play some bass, just go play something that is not too loud.

We talk about Tye Sheridan and things like that. I love being involved in singing, and doing it so much
