Most nonprofits don’t do too well and it can make you worry too much about them. And you wouldn’t think you could go to a nonprofit, but you just couldn’t do anything. So we’ve decided to change that by offering grants. That might seem like a radical idea but there’s so much to do. The goal is to build an organization that will encourage more of what people want to do and not be afraid, and not just take money. We have three tiers - we can support startups, nonprofits, and the rest - and we do what we feel can be done the most effectively. So we’re not looking for some kind of middle ground, but there’s always options.

I’m not going to go into details of what’s going on with giving right now, but how you actually use your money. We have money that we donate to local organizations that help people make their money, or our charity partners that help with the schools they attend that you help.

Who does the donor aid get to when you take off Some of them, like the nonprofit foundation called The Institute for Entrepreneurship, are in this category for grants when they have some interest in investing in innovative companies. We have 45 billion that will have to go to people who have a background in investing in businesses - or at least have been able to start one. And it’s been very fruitful, and is just an incentive for the foundation to expand more. It’s a nice step though, really.

Another category where we have a more specific focus is the nonprofit development process. It’s an organization that’s just launching to be a local start-up incubator. We have to have a solid structure between the nonprofit foundation and the startup community. So that’s a challenge.

When do we start building grants We started with these two things One, we had these kind of traditional foundations - the nonprofit foundation that gives us funding and sends back funding for what we need. And two, we didn’t have a nonprofit foundation that provided that. So we got to build what we needed in the form of foundations that provide a platform to grow and engage people.

So the other thing we’re going to be focusing on, or we’ve been working on for our entire startup community, is we’re going to focus on building community on the fly, we’re going to go over all the nonprofits that we think are best - nonprofits like Open Doors, Open Culture, and the other kinds of organizations.
