Some Small Business License applicants must pass a series of tests to be eligible to receive small business grant funding. A small business licensee must also have completed a small business school or a community college program that meets the requirement of a Small Business License a Small Business Licensing Course or School License Course in English, as applicable, as well as a Short Law or Short Criminal History Course or Continuing Education Program in English or French or the English Language Learner’s Certificate of Completion. For applications with a Small Business License, please visit www.sig-plans-licensing-form.gov. These classes are administered in a way similar to one that requires a bachelor’s degree from a university, and may include either an elective course or a class to practice law.

Will I have to attend school to receive financial assistance

No. In addition to the requirements outlined for Small Business License applicants, some educational institutions, including our financial aid offices, will not offer or provide financial aid to Small Business License applicants. Although our students receive funding from their local college, the University System of New Jersey (U-NJ) does not offer financial scholarships that apply directly toward tuition in those institutions that also require a Higher Education Degree. For more information regarding financial aid to Small Business License applicants, visit www.sig-plans-licensing-form.govgrantsfinancial-aid. The program does not offer any financial assistance, so small business applicants must apply to our school’s financial aid office for assistance.

What types of small business grants can I receive

Small Business License applicants can apply for grants through the state and federal financial aid networks, which generally include our financial aid office, local U-NJ financial aid office (EEO), our Small Business Foundation, and the U.S. Small Business Innovation Network. Applicants can also apply online to the National Small Business Financial Aid Conference (SBIF) and other events as needed. See httpwww.nyj.orgresourcesgrants.html and www.nyj.orgsitesdefaultfilesgrants.pdfpageVidSBIF.
