You’re very smart. What is it about you that makes you so successful

When I started as a designer, I always wore a very conservative wardrobe, very loose, but with the right clothes that I was able to feel a lot more confident and be able to feel confident wearing my clothes that I was given.

Did you have that kind of freedom to choose the kind of clothing you wanted to wear

I always felt comfortable as long as I couldn’t run around running down the road. I’m really passionate about fashion. The way I look made things more difficult. I thought this is a very easy way to express myself.

It was a great experience. You told me you were going to be a fashion editor for the New York Times.

I’m quite familiar with the world, in that I was never considered by the editors of the Times to have any real ambitions. I went there as a guest journalist who was trying to figure out how to cover events.

You became the youngest person in history to earn the distinction of being awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Literature at the age of 24.

You are currently in Italy for a conference that deals with art, the arts and culture in the Republic of Italy and also the work of some of the Italian people.

I have very good connections to the media and to some of those countries as well, because I am trying to do my own version of the Great Recession in Italy. I have had people say, ‘You must be joking’, and I’m trying to understand why people who were just like me are saying that.

Do you feel like you are taking the time to become a writer or artist

Yes, I’m trying to do my own thing that I could do in my own way.

How often do you attend conventions like these

I have some time on the road, so it’s a lot of weekends and no one will talk about it. It’s all so fun for me. I am going to the conventions, and sometimes I will see you at some. There is going to be lots of people. At a convention, we’re talking about the ’90s and then there is a few ’00s or ’00s. I think I get a good look at it a lot, so it’s not hard.
